Mario Ruel grew up in a farming village in Canada miles from the sea, but by the time he was 17 years old he was at sea on tall ships. Mario has sailed all over the world and round the world twice.
He did the rigging on the first reenactment of the Bounty, came to Australia in the early 1990s and has worked as a full-time rigger since.
